State of the Industry Luncheon

Attendees enjoyed a scrumptious four-course lunch and strolled among the hundred-or-so tables, chatting and networking, before panelists Keith Barket (Angelo, Gordon & Company), Douglas Crocker II (DC Partners L.L.C.), Harvey E. Green (Marcus and Millichap) and moderator Dr. Peter Linneman (Albert Sussman Professor, Wharton School of Business) took the platform to start the panel discussion and Q&A on real estate investments.
The conversation touched on:
- new trends in commercial real estate as related to federal cap rate compression, the commercial debt obligation (CDO) market, and the global economy, and how to mold investment strategies to match these trends
- the impact of immediate and accurate information flow on the real estate industry and on young real estate professionals and lenders in particular
- problems inherent in the recent condominium development and conversion explosion in markets such as south Florida, Chicago and Las Vegas and what they mean for the rental market
- the merits of investing in homebuilders, industrial, office and apartments
- and predictions for the future of REITs.
